An oil-sludge mixture is cooled with cooling water. Because of the high temperature difference, the mixture is cooled in a tube bundle cascade in 3-4 passes. The oil-sludge mixture circulates in a circle until it falls below the maximum permissible outlet temperature (60°C). The oil-sludge mixture flows through the pipes while the cooling water flows around the pipes. Cleaning covers are provided on the front of each step for cleaning purposes.
