Success Story Waste Heat Utilization Bad Goisern

Holzwärme Bad Goisern relies on state-of-the-art technology for heat generation from Heger Edelstahl in Schardenberg. Holzwärme Bad Goisern has been operating a biomass heating plant with a local heating network since 2006 and supplies buildings in several parts of Bad Goisern with renewable energy in the form of heat from wood chips - and since 2012 also to an increasing extent with waste heat from industry. During the summer months of June, July and August, the heat demand is covered purely by waste heat. The measures installed there have enabled 96,000 MWh of waste heat to be fed into the district heating network over the past 10 years. This corresponds to a saving of approx. 140,000 Srm of wood chips or a saving of 9,600,000 m³ of natural gas! These plants reduce the dependence on energy imports and thus strengthen the regional business location. Heat recovery plants from Heger Edelstahl make a valuable contribution to the reduction of the greenhouse gas CO2 and thus contribute to climate protection.
