Heat Recovery from Annealing Furnace Exhaust Gases

Heat Recovery from Annealing Furnace Exhaust Gases

As part of an energy efficiency initiative, two heat recovery systems were installed to capture waste heat from electrically heated annealing furnaces. Previously, the hot exhaust gases from both furnaces were combined and cooled to approximately 170 °C using dilution air before passing through a bag filter – without any energy being recovered.

With the installation of the new heat recovery systems, this previously unused thermal energy is now efficiently utilised. The recovered heat is fed into the local or plant-wide heating network, contributing significantly to sustainable energy use and emission reduction.
